Some days are good, some days are bad, but every day of my life is spent with music in some way. Since the age of 13, I've known exactly what I wanted out of life - abnormality! Which is how I became a musician. Music was my crutch in my small hometown of Denton, MD. I started playing at venues all over MD when I was a teenager with just an acoustic guitar, then on to an electric and started a groovy little high school band. I met my manager, Mike Marucci, through some of those shows and he eventually introduced me to producer, Jim Ebert (Butch Walker, Marvelous 3, Meredith Brooks). Jim and I have worked together on a few records: 'The Other Side of Me' (EP), 'Lush', and 'Go' (EP). 'Lush' was my first full-length record, which included some co-written songs with Butch Walker, The Matrix, Wizardz of Oz, Mathew Gerrard, and Stephen Lironi. The single 'Wasted Time' became the #1 single on Sky Radio in the UK for over 6 weeks. Soon after, we released 'Go' from an EP and it managed to sit atop Sky Radio for over 8 weeks in the UK.

My solo act morphed its way into a 'band' within the past few years and together, we wrote, recorded, and produced our latest EP 'Bloom' as the Niki Barr Band. In support of the records, we've been fortunate to share the stage with Joan Jett, Paramore, The Offspring, The Cult, Papa Roach, Shinedown, Puddle of Mudd, Third Eye Blind, and Red Jumpsuit Aparatus. We've also toured internationally with the Armed Forces Entertainment, performing for the US Troops in the Middle East, Japan, UK, and many other countries throughout Europe and Southeast Asia. The tours brought us support from Billboard, Rolling Stone, The Wall Street Journal, Time Magazine, and NPR Radio's “Border Crossings with Larry London".

As of late, I'm spending my days writing songs for the new record, which we hope to release by the Fall/Winter of 2009!

BJ Kerwin was only 9 years old when he picked up his first set of drum sticks. Now, at 23, he hasn't looked back. "I started playing because I was always around it," says Kerwin. "Both my dad and my uncle have been professional drummers. And like any kid who's always around instruments, you eventually just start banging on shit." After picking up the drums, Kerwin tried his hand at guitar at age 12, and became hooked on music. He was soon forming bands and moonlighting in friends' projects left and right, recording his own songs and playing shows all over the D.C. Metro area. He later attended Full Sail in Orlando, Fla., to hone his recording skills and learn the tricks and the trade of the entertainment business. Upon returning from the muggy expanses of Florida, Kerwin hooked up with the Niki Barr Band in early 2006 and jumped at the chance to join on as a rhythm guitarist. However, the Band was soon in need of a drummer, and Kerwin stepped in to fill the slot, cementing the Band's line-up. "Working with Niki is fantastic," says Kerwin. "It's always great to work with a well-organized group of professionals who are all committed to the same goals. She is a fantastic song writer which makes for an interesting set to watch and play every night."

Scott Ensign is the bass player for the group. Having started out in music at a very young age he has worked to master his abilities as a performer. He grew up in Youngstown OH where he got his start playing local bands with varying styles. At this time he found himself stuck in the middle of what is now called the 90's grunge movement. Drawing from these bands and the classic rock and blues he was used to from his father's influence, he dialed in on a hard rock sound. In 2001 he joined a band out of the Youngstown/Cleveland OH area called Ivet. While with Ivet, Scott was able to play many high profile venues and also became very interested in learning more about profesional recording. A small studio was built and the band recorded their 3rd full length album themselves. Shortly after, Ivet broke up due to inner tension between band members and Scott jumped at an oppertunity to move to Orlando FL and attend classes at Full Sail. There he spent a year earning his degree and being immersed in the recording industry. After graduation, Scott moved to NYC to work at the famed Right Track Recording in Manhattan. Upon arrival in NYC, he realized he could not give up performing music in a band and made a bold move to join with a singer/songwriter out of Annapolis, MD: Niki Barr. Scott has been with Niki's band for a year and has experienced some of the best rock shows ever, including a tour through the middle east to entertain the US troops. Now that Scott has moved to Annapolis to play with the band full time, he feels as though the best is yet to come and is excited for the future.

Island was born in Baltimore MD. Inspired heavily by his family, he started getting into music almost the day he was born. His father being a vocalist/drummer and his mother being a vocalist/guitarist helped him tremendously in finding his musical talent. By the age of three he was singing in various churches and banging on his father's drum set. Not much longer after that, his parents bought him his first guitar (A 1/4 size classical acoustic). Around the age of 12, he started lessons from his very musically accomplished uncle James Young. Around this time he also became influenced by his father's rock band "Doug Farris & Company". Frequent lessons, listening to the right influences, and practicing for hours on end every day since then has gotten him to the degree of musicianship that he has today.
